Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) server hacked. A government source told PTI on Monday that the hackers demanded around Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency. Patient service issues are being handled manually in emergency, outpatient and laboratory wings as servers are down. AIIMS servers were down for the sixth consecutive day since Monday. It is feared that the data of about 3-4 crore patients may have been lost due to this hacker-attack which took place last Wednesday morning. The AIIMS server stores the information of several VIPs, including former prime ministers, ministers, bureaucrats and judges. According to government sources, internet services on hospital computers have been shut down on the recommendation of the investigating agency. On November 25, Delhi Police’s Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations Unit registered a case of extortion and cyber terrorism.
