Finally the flight to Kolkata will fly from Coochbehar airport. Air service will start from February 15. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has already given the green signal for air traffic from Cooch Behar Airport. For now, 9-seater small aircraft will fly from Cooch Behar airport. Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik informed the news on Friday.
The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has planned to operate flights from small airports in the country. Flights have already started from several small airports in the country under the initiative of the Centre. Now the name of Cooch Behar airport is going to be added to this list. It has been reported that 9-seater flight service will be started between Cooch Behar and Kolkata from February 15.
Nisith Pramanik, Member of Parliament of Cooch Behar and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs said, “Forgetting the past, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has decided to resume regular flights from Cooch Behar airport.Center has decided to operate the flight at a very low cost so that the people of Cooch Behar can take this flight service. A major part of the rent will be subsidized by the Centre. This flight will run every day. We want to forget politics and continue this air service hand in hand with the state. Depriving people of air services by creating political controversy will not be appropriate.
Nishith Pramanik feels that there are several problems in operating large aircraft from Cooch Behar airport. On this day, he said, it is not possible to land big aircraft due to the short runway of Cooch Behar airport. The land will be sought from the state government. If the land is available, the next plan will be taken to extend the runway and land larger aircraft.
