Today on 02.11.23, over a secret source information, SI Norbu W. Dukpa and his team have apprehended two accused persons viz. (1) Pradip Sarkar @ Joy Sarkar (20yrs.) s/o – Sushil Sarkar of Station Chowpathi, Ward No. 10, PS – Kotwali, Dist- Coochbehar and 2.Sudip Das (19yrs. ) s/o – Basu Das of Village – Chakchaka, near Checkpost, PS- Pundibari, Dist- Coochbehar and seized 138.291 Kgs of Cannabis (Ganja) in 22 packets from their joint conscious possessions which were kept inside the hidden chambers of a white coloured Tata Pick up van bearing Reg. No. WB71B/8748.
On interrogation, it could be revealed that they had received those contraband from Nishiganj, Dist. Coochbehar and were carrying them to Bihar for their clandestine disposal. They further stated that there are some other persons who are directly involved in this Smuggling all of Coochbehar. They arrange vehicles for carrying Ganja.
A complaint is being lodged at the Matigara PS, SPC.
