Desperate to capture Delhi, BJP is confident to retain power this time

The Delhi Municipal Elections were held on Sunday. Common people gathered in the polling line to determine who will be in possession of Jhanta or Padma. However, the enthusiasm for voting was not noticed in many booths. Voting has started from 8 am today. As in the past few years, this time too, it is a three-way fight in Delhi. This fight is mainly between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP. Even if the Congress is involved in the fight, the political circles of the capital feel that it has no influence. In 2012, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and the UPA government at the Center broke up the old Delhi Nagar Corporation into three pieces. After ten years the three Purnigams of the capital have been merged again to form one Nigam. Now the number of wards is 250. The number of voters in the municipal election of Delhi is 1 crore 45 lakh. A total of 1,349 candidates are contesting. Voting will be taken till 5:30 pm. Result declaration on 7th December. Delhi Municipal Elections started from this morning. In the morning, the crowd of voters was noticed in the various booths, but as the day progressed, there was not much enthusiasm. Till 4:30 pm, only 45 hundred people have voted. The voting was conducted in a peaceful manner except for a couple of isolated incidents. BJP has been in power of the Delhi Municipal Corporation for almost 15 consecutive years. Like last time, this time too they brought in new faces without giving tickets to two-thirds of the councillors. But AAP has won most of the 70 seats in Delhi in the assembly polls. But AAP could never capture Delhi Purnigam. The BJP won 181 of the total 272 wards in the last Delhi municipal polls. AAP won 48 and Congress 27 wards. So this time the fight is Seyane Seyane. AAP campaigned relentlessly on the issue of garbage, pollution and illegal housing to oust the BJP and take over the Delhi Municipal Corporation.
