This is the first edition of World Cup football (FIFA World Cup 2022) in the Middle East desert. Although there were no such restrictions for visitors to the World Cup in other times, the government of Qatar has issued several restrictions for this World Cup. Just as the sale of alcohol is prohibited, women are also prohibited from wearing revealing clothes. Foreign visitors may be jailed for disobeying the order. Qatar has implemented several other guidelines on the list of restrictions. A storm of controversy has started in various circles about this. What are those restrictions?First on the list of restrictions is that the media must obtain permission from the Qatari government for photography and videography of popular sites in the country. Taking pictures without permission is a punishable offence. Restrictions have also been imposed on media coverage. The Middle-Eastern country will not be allowed to interview locals at their homes during the World Cup. Media access to migrant workers’ accommodation is strictly prohibited. The list of restrictions does not end here. government buildings, Footage may not be taken near or inside universities, places of worship and hospitals. Video recording of privately owned property may not be done even with the consent of the homeowner. Only three locations in Doha will not be subject to this restriction. They are the Waterfront Promenade at the Corniche, The West Bay area and the Tower area.
